Freebies whilst pregnant and a new mum!
After the excitement of initially finding out you are pregnant, reality kicks in shortly after.. Oh no how are we going to afford this?!
You're not alone in feeling this way, we have had many a conversation with women regarding finances in pregnancy and coping with a newborn! But dont panic! We are here to help you keep the costs down during pregnancy and provide you with some of the freebies that are available to you:
NHS Healthy Start Vouchers
You may qualify for health start vouchers to buy basic foods if you receive certain government benefits, or are pregnant and under 18 years old. These vouchers can be useful to buy:
- Infant formula milk
- Fruit and vegetables
- Vitamins
You just need to complete an application form, you can get these online from the Healthy Start Website.
Sure Start Maternity Grant
You could get a one-off payment of £500 to help towards the costs of having a child. This is known as a Sure Start Maternity Grant.
You usually qualify for the grant if both of the following apply:
- you’re expecting your first child, or you’re expecting a multiple birth (such as twins) and have children already
- you or your partner already get certain benefits
You must claim the grant within 11 weeks of the baby’s due date or within 6 months after the baby’s birth.
Your Baby Club
Join Your Baby Club to get access to free baby samples, deals and coupons, product testing, mum and baby competitions, and other promotions.
Emma’s Diary
Emma’s Diary provides soon-to-be parents with relevant freebies for each stage of pregnancy as well as some baby freebies once your little one is born.

The Bounty app you can use it to collect your FREE Bounty packs!
There are 3 different freebie packs: Mum-To-Be, Newborn and Growing Family, containing relevant freebies for the age and stage you’re at with your pregnancy or growing baby. Your baby freebies can vary but here’s the gist of what you’ll get in each pack:
- Mum-To-Be Pack (available to collect from Tesco, Asda and Boots) includes newborn nappies & wipes, Cocoa Butter Massage Lotion (for stretch marks), Always Dailies pads, and money off vouchers.
- Newborn Bounty Pack (only available in hospitals) includes nappies, Sudocream Baby Care Cream, Non Bio Liquid Detergent, food supplements for your baby, a Child Benefit form ready to send off to HMRC, and more money off vouchers.

Ella’s Kitchen
Get some Ella’s Kitchen freebies by when you sign up on their website. You’ll receive a weaning journey map, a wall chart, fruity sticker pack and money off coupons for any Ella’s Kitchen pouch.
Sign up by filling in the form on Ella’s Kitchen ‘Become A Friend’ Website. The pack will then be sent out to you in the post.
Cow & Gate Baby Club
When you sign up to the Cow and Gate Baby Club you will receive a small soft toy, a paper pregnancy diary and a booklet full of real life mum stories.
To get the pack, you must register to join the Cow & Gate Baby Club. You’ll then be sent the pack and start receiving weekly emails.
Aldi Mamia free sample
Interested in receiving a free full-size pack of nappies from Aldi? This product sampling opportunity is open to all parents in the UK with babies weighing between 2-5 kg (4-11lb).

This is something you can start doing even in pregnancy by reading to your bump and then continue this habit when baby arrives!
